Welcome to 617LiveCity... "THIS CITY IS OURS!"

Ok, of course I am a big fan of the ladies, but what that should go on to say is I am not a big fan of the ladies that are shown on our website here in ONLY bathing suits or less than that. I am not a big fan of doing all these peace shows, one of which I did last night - and feeling strongly that one of the reasons we DONT have peace in the streets of Boston is because there are WAY to many single moms raising their kids. I am not above looking at an attractive lady, and have been guilthy in the past of having less than adequately dressed ones on my fliers etc, but you live, you learn and you try to grow, and if you have principals you try and teach them as well.

What I mean by this is if daddy isn't around, or a positive male role mode, all too often the young boys in the house learn from the worst possible source what it means to be a man, which is from TV or the streets. The same is true from the young ladies, they learn what a real man is supposed to be from these same kids sometimes who are immitating what it means to be a man, which is the hypermasculine images we see on BET and MTV and most every other show or movie you want to watch. Of course this is all related back to where one lives and the economic conditions found there, and more often than not this is connected back to race - and Boston is certainly no different. With few exceptions, our hoods are hoods of color, and as we all know not having a steady reliable source of income or a good job, which the hood can certainly have ( essentially lack of opportunity and resources) people systematically turn to other options, ie the streets. This causes more stress at home, can lead to drugs alcohol, and the hood cycle of course goes on.

The problem is this can lead to violence at home, or even heavy verbal abuse, screaming and yelling and drama arond the house, and young ladies can see that from the man (if it is the father, or stepdad, older brother, mother's BF or whatnot, and this is what young ladies may start to look for in their men afterward which is a horrible cycle as well). Its all a system, and we do nothing when we don't grow up eventually and step out of that system and tell a woman its ok she don't have to be naked to get our attention, and that we as men, like a woman with a mind. How often do we see our boys catcalling, and think its funny. That certainly doesn't happen as much if men are truly respecting woman and not acting like they are good for only one thing.

I would love to see equal opportunity for the woman to showcase themselves on this site, and all sites. Show them in their business professional looks if they have one, which to me is far more sexy anyway. We really need to deprogram ourselves from the big 5 companies that run the entertainment industry and teach us to act this way and reinforce it and support it - as it all supports capitolism and keeps the haves having, and the nots, not! Ultimately when the have nots, don't have especailly in our current uber-materialistic global economies, the have nots might try to get what they don't by any means neccessary, and that is where this kind of violence can come from.

New England Up Front agrees totally with Lyrical. When don't have to be paraded around like farm animals with little if any clothing. New England Up Front goes out of its way to showcase our beautiful women in a positive light. Women in full dress mode are very sexy. Whatever happened to giving our young and older men a little mystery. Our women don't have to degrade themselves to bring exposure to their skills and talents. For all those looking for a platform to showcase yourselves in, your welcome to contact the mag for more details.

There has been an overwhelming amount of responses to this post personally to me that have not been posted but directly brought to my attention. In regards to this issue I posed the question, should I change the Model of the Month lay out to be more conservative? The response from the women......."NO, it's just that we need eye candy too". With that said starting in June 617Live will also feature Male Models of the Month. So there, let's here the complaints for that too.

For the record "Im a have....thats wants more!

I like the idea of male models, since I've started the mag I've also changed some of the ways women are exposed, so I've added male models to break up the "norm" of what people see as a model these days. We women like I candy also.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. I do understand that women today and throughout history have been exposed by various media outlets that have molded society into the definition of "sexy". I feel that there is a genre category for every definition of beautiful. In today's world there are magazines, websites, etc all exposing different aspects of sexy. The same way one man views a perfect classic coke bottle figure as sexy, there's another that views a voluptuous plus size woman just as sexy. There are many cultures world wide that consider other physical characteristics of a woman as sexy. Yes, we do live in a society where women are under overwhelming peer pressure to measure up to what society considers "sexy". But if the world were perfect, we wouldn't be having this discussion now would we. Just as media has freedom of speech, the people have freedom of not hearing it. If you dont like a magazine, you don't buy it, if you don't like a tv show, you change the channel.

Now by no way does this mean that we at 617Live aren't attentive to our members concerns or opinions. We try to make sure we are taking the general public as well as our personal morals into consideration in all decisions made. With that said we adding the "Male Model of the Month" category to our site scheduled in June to respond to the overwhelming comments that "women need eye candy to". Now, let's see how many women complain about "Men" being exposed....lol

We welcome you to cross-promote with us here at 617Live, and we hope that your editorial response and invite for women to contact your magazine for exposure is not an in-direct insult to the integrity of our website.

Wow! Great Opinon, Hek might not agree with one on this, but I do. I see it all the time and Yes if we don't like it than we don't have to buy into it ( I like that one Hek).

But it happing way too much, and for some people it not always easy for them to walk away from certain situations, it take a strong person to do so, and to break the cycle in there family life and personal.
